MR imaging has ushered sea change in medical diagnosis due to its extensive clinical use. The latest acquisition of 3T ingenia from Phillips gives us high quality images. It has 70cm bore and has more space which reduces patient anxiety. The scans are faster.
In head there is advanced neuro imaging package, motion free brain imaging, SWI for traumatic brain injury and advanced diffusion sequences. ASL – non contrast brain perfusion imaging will now be possible. High quality functional MRI will be performed. Fat quantification in liver will be performed mDIXON technique. Healthy liver has about 5-6% fat content. Fatty liver is seen in those patients with excessive alcohol consumption, non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The patient NAFLD are at risk of developing cirrhosis and liver failure. Ultrasound has 70% sensitivity in detecting fat in liver (much less in obies patient).
