Introduction
Flow cytometry is the measurement of single cells in a fluid suspension. The major benefit of flow cytometers is the capability to rapidly measure and record multiple characteristics of a large number of cells at rates that can exceed 5,000 cells per second, so that even low-frequency cell populations can be quantitated with a high degree of statistical accuracy. Additionally, flow cytometry instrumentation with cell sorting capability provides the ability to recover a selected cell subpopulation in high purity (>95%) from a heterogeneous mixture of cells. The subpopulation can then be used in assays to determine biological function or in other molecular studies.
Flow cytometry has evolved rapidly over the past two decades. The impetus for this advancement was the result of the development of monoclonal antibody technology that allowed the production of large amounts of specific immunological reagents. Today, flow cytometry instrumentation such as the Partec-Sysmex system provides quantitative & qualitative measurement of heterogeneous cell populations based on antigen expression, enzyme activities, and other molecular probes. Consequently, flow cytometry has found broad utility in both cell biology research and in clinical investigations to directly assay immune function, the progression of immunodeficiency diseases such as HIV/AIDS infection, and the diagnosis of recurrence of hematological malignancies. Multipurpose flow cytometer.
The Sysmex –Partec Cube 6 system is another four-color, dual-laser, bench top system available today that is capable of both cell analysis and sorting. Designed specifically to support a wide range of applications, the Sysmex –Partec Cube 6 is a fully integrated multiparameter system.
The Sysmex –Partec Cube 6 system combines unique dual-laser technology, and powerful software to provide the high throughput necessary to meet productivity requirements of clinical laboratories. The modularity and innovative technology designed into the Sysmex –Partec Cube 6 system also offers investigators the performance and flexibility required for a variety of research applications.
The built-in versatility of the Sysmex –Partec Cube 6 flow cytometer meets the current demands of both clinical and research environments. Its flexibility will help you meet tomorrow’s demands.
